Mariana Martinez was Head of HR for a five-star resort before joining FIXE.

Mariana Martinez is a dedicated FIXE Account Manager based in Nicaragua. She grew up in the Spanish colonial town of León, and 25 years ago, her family moved to Managua, the country’s bustling capital, where she has lived ever since. With a degree in Management and International Business from Thomas More University in Managua, Mariana brings a strong foundation in business to her role at FIXE.

Before joining FIXE, Mariana Martinez served as Head of HR at Rancho Santana, a five-star resort on Nicaragua’s Emerald Coast. She also worked as a Spanish and English translator and interpreter for a Canadian company, primarily assisting non-profit organizations. Mariana Martinez discovered FIXE through her ex-husband, a restaurateur, and later interviewed with CEO and co-founder Ryan Handel while visiting Los Angeles. What initially attracted you to work for FIXE?

“I wanted a role that was more challenging and aligned with my college studies. FIXE seemed like the perfect fit, offering both growth and the chance to apply my skills.”

How has your role at FIXE evolved over time?

“Although my background is in HR and Administration, in Nicaragua, these fields often intersect with accounting. My accounting, HR, and administrative experience, along with mastering the Fixe tech platform, allowed me to move from an assistant to an account manager within a year of joining the team.”

What life and business skills have you gained from working at FIXE?

“Good communication is essential for success. Time management is also crucial for me. Planning and organizing my schedule provides me security, efficiency, and peace of mind.”

How has your previous experience contributed to your performance at FIXE?

“My prior roles with North American employers have made me familiar with U.S. work culture, which has been an advantage. I’m accustomed to changes and embracing innovative technology.

What are the most satisfying aspects of helping FIXE clients?

“It’s incredibly rewarding when clients express their appreciation. They have so much on their plates. It feels good to know my work makes their day-to-day work a bit easier.”

What is your preferred method of communicating with clients?

“Emails are more organized and make it easier to track communications or follow up on requests. For time-sensitive matters or vendor calls, I prefer the phone.”

Do you like it when clients are over-communicative or under-communicative? Would you rather have somebody contact you constantly or rarely?

“I don’t mind either way. Communication is an important part of my job.”

What are your favorite aspects of your role?

“I enjoy staying busy, constantly learning, and tackling new challenges.”

Who have been your key mentors at FIXE, and what have they taught you?

“I was fortunate to have had incredible mentors. Olivia, Scott, Sam, and Ryan all dedicated time to training me in FIXE’s software. Olivia and Ryan are always available to assist if I encounter a complex accounting issue. Ryan is grounded, calm, and great at helping me through challenging situations. Sam is a patient, skilled teacher who took me under her wing.”

What are your future goals with FIXE?

“I’m looking for stability and advancement opportunities, and FIXE provides just that. I thrive on order and organization and look forward to many more years here. If this were my last job, I would be more than happy. I truly love the people at FIXE.”
